
Nursing services: A skilled nurse provides a variety of procedures, such as vital signs, dressing changes, blood draws, injections, and general physical assessments. Your individualized plan of care is developed with your physician to meet your needs for rehabilitation. The nurse keeps your physician informed of your progress or special needs.
Physical Therapy: Your capabilities are assessed and rehabilitative techniques are used to reach realistic goals for you. These techniques may include gait training, evaluation for equipment, pain control, some exercise programs, muscle strengthening, or instruction in the use of prosthetic devices. You will be given a home exercise routine and you should follow their instructions for the best results and quickest recovery.
Speech Therapy: These are specific treatment programs to assist the patient who has a communication problem due to illness or injury. The speech pathologist may also offer hearing testing and specialized training for patients who have problems with swallowing.
Occupational Therapy: These rehabilitative activities are used to increase your ability to carry out normal, day-to-day activities such as feeding, dressing, grooming, bathing, and performing household tasks. Occupational Therapists also construct adaptive equipment, evaluate for architectural barriers and instruct in energy conservation/work simplification techniques.
Home Health Aide: This service is supervised by your skilled nurse and is dependent upon your individual needs Services are usually provided 1 to 3 times per week and decrease as your condition improves. These services include: complete to partial bathing, safety assist with showering oral hygiene (which includes washing dentures hair care (brushing and shampooing if requested) shaving nail care skin care bed making, including clean fresh linen light laundry assist with dressing assist with walking or simple exercise programs approved by the nurse catheter care vital signs essential errands and simple meal preparation. The aide will also clean any mess that is created during the visit. The aide will straighten up your immediate environment so you will be as comfortable as possible.
You have the right to choose the home care agency that will care for you or a loved one. Anyone can give a referral to home care programs.
